Meet the Doctors

Dr OrloffDr Chris Orloff

Chris was born and educated in the UK, receiving his dental education at Kings College School of Medicine and Dentistry. He was awarded the Prize in Orthodontics as well as prizes from the Medical Protection Society and Wisdom Dental.

Chris went on to work as a dentist in the south of England, until he married and moved immediately to Australia. Chris and his wife Sarah lived in the remote outback town of Coober Pedy, where he practised dentistry and they fell in love with the country. Chris spent some time mining for opals and they lived in an underground home or “dugout”.

The cultural change was great, but after three and a half years, and the birth of their daughter Hannah, they moved to Perth where Chris entered his Orthodontic Training.

On completing his degree of Master of Science in Orthodontics at the highly regarded Western Australian program, Chris first went on to work as a locum in a practice in the Southern Suburbs. At this time he commenced the visiting service to Kalgoorlie.

He then became a partner in a long established, four Orthodontist Practice in the western suburbs of Perth. Soon after Chris and Sarah had their second daughter Maya.

In 2002, Chris left the partnership and established the practice in Rockingham. At the time the Southern Coastal suburbs had a limited, part time Orthodontic service, and the development of a contemporary, multi-chair Orthodontic Clinic was designed to bring the 21st Century to a rapidly growing and increasingly sophisticated population.

Meanwhile, Chris tries to find time to spend with his family. When he can, he loves to go boating or fishing, or enjoyed with friends over a good meal with a glass of wine. Most holidays are spent exploring the best State in the Nation, in the 4WD, maybe prospecting for gold.

Dr PatelDr Ashish Patel

Ash Patel BDS (Birm), MFDS RCPS, MPhil (Birm), MOrth (Intercollegiate) Fully Australian Registered Specialist Orthodontist

Even as a dental student, I knew I wanted to pursue a career as a Specialist Orthodontist In this field, I get to meet, befriend and help so many different patients by tailoring treatment to their individual needs and concerns. I enjoy the intricate work associated with brace treatment and love the look of absolute joy on my patient's faces and their new found confidence in their new smile when the brace comes off. It's like they are smiling for the first time! I am also a self-confessed gadget geek and with the different types of braces I offer, I relish the challenges and find Orthodontics exciting and rewarding in so many ways.

I studied dentistry at The University of Birmingham, School of Dentistry, UK and graduated BDS in 1998. I then went onto General Dental Practice in Nottinghamshire, followed by Oral Surgery Hospital jobs in Nottinghamshire and Sheffield during which time I passed my Entrance examination into Specialist training, MDFS RCPS in 2001.I then went to work in the Birmingham Dental hospital and Children's Hospital and subsequently got in to the very competitive 3 year Full-time Orthodontic Specialist training program in 2002. During my three years, I treated hundreds of patients, both adults and children and was rewarded an MPhil Ortho in 2005 and worked as Locum Consultant at Worcester and Kidderminster Hospital for a while. I then worked mostly in Private Practice, until my wife and I saw the (sun) light and moved to Perth 2009.

I have been published and was a Prize-winner at the World Orthodontic Conference in 2005. I now create beautiful smiles on all ages.

I am also proud to be the one of the very few in Australia to offer the Incognito Lingual braces, the most popular "invisible" brace in Europe. I also offer the super efficient Damon braces and Invisalign and pride myself on non-extraction treatments, where possible.

Having moved to Perth, my wife and I now live in Fremantle and love the beach and outdoor lifestyle here. When not working, I enjoy running (still trying to reduce my half time marathon time), cycling and various snow sports. I am a big EPL fan, especially Arsenal, although Perth Glory runs a close second!

Dr SanjDr Sanj Ratneser

Dr Sanj Ratneser BDS (Adel) DCD.Orth (Melb) MOrth.RCS (Edin)

Australian Orthodontic Board Certified Orthodontist

Dr Sanj Ratneser is the newest addition to the class 1 orthodontic family. Sanj grew up in Perth and graduated high school at Christ Church Grammar School in Claremont. He had a strong desire to work in health which led him to study dentistry at the University of Adelaide. Sanj completed his dentistry in 1998. After a brief stint working as a dentist in Perth he caught the travel bug.

As such Sanj packed his bags and left for London, England. It was here that Sanj worked as a dentist for many years.

During this time he enjoyed many trips exploring Europe and North America. Not to mention many of London’s pubs restaurants.

When he wasn’t holidaying Sanj was extensively involved in children’s dentistry in his dental practice located in Orpington, Kent. During his this time Sanj developed a passion for orthodontics and working with children. It was this desire to further his training that lead Sanj to return to Australia and undertake specialist training at the University of Melbourne in Orthodontics. Sanj also recently completed his membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and was awarded 'best overseas student' in his exams.

When not busily straightening teeth Sanj is a self confessed beach and sun worshipper. He is an avid diver, golfer, snow boarder and cricketer.

Sanj can be seen at our Ellenbrook, Kalamunda, Canning Vale and Kalgoorlie practices sporting his signature superhero outfits!
