The Official "Class 1 Orthodontics" NO EATS List!!!
Foods NOT to be eaten during Orthodontic Treatment.
Certain types of soft sweets can be eaten - but it is very important that you brush and rinse your teeth immediately after eating. The candy will not directly harm your braces or fixed appliance, but they will cause damage to your teeth. The worst of all sweets are the soft, fizzy drinks, such as Coke, Pepsi, Lift and Fanta. It doesn't matter if the drink is a diet type or not, the same amount of damage will occur to your teeth.
Also, when you bend wires or knock a brace loose, you have a risk of making your treatment take longer. If you chew gum, you probably aren't going to break anything, but it will make it more difficult for the teeth to move past each other. This means that it will only take longer for the treatment to end.
Should you have a brace come loose before an appointment, please call on the same day that is was broken. Your orthodontist will not be angry, but we want to make sure that we have time to fix it when you next come to the office.
Some parts to an appliance can wait to be fixed, while others need to be repaired as soon as possible, speak to our treatment coordinator for advice.
We all want this to be a positive experience for you, with the least amount of inconvenience, and to achieve great results on time. This will only happen with your cooperation. So let's work together to give you the best smile without unnecessary delays.
WE ARE REALLY HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN US TO WORK WITH YOU IN CREATING THAT NEW AND FANTASTIC SMILE!!!
