Incognito Braces

Incognito is a custom designed and engineered (brace), which is glued to the back of your teeth, therefore making them truly invisible. It offers an undeniable aesthetic appearance.

Other than the aesthetic advantage these lingual appliances offer over traditional braces, the possibility of damage to the teeth is less likely. This is because the inner side of the tooth is more robust and less susceptible to decalcification and caries.

The Incognito system differs substantially from previous lingual braces. It is the first entirely individual bracket system, where each bracket is custom made to the unique shape of each individual tooth. It is the most advanced, precise and powerful concealed brace available in lingual orthodontics and capable of solving complex orthodontic problems.

This advanced method makes lingual orthodontics particularly well suited for adults, who often want to improve the look and function of their teeth without letting anyone else know about their treatment.

Incognito not only offers a new variety of treatment possibilities to the orthodontist, but also the highest patient comfort that is technically possible - that reduces tongue irritations and speech problems and allows the patient to adapt much quicker to the brace.

Lingual braces (http://www.lingualcare.com) are glued on the back of your teeth, and are therefore invisible to other people. They are good for the majority of clients, including those with more severe crookedness. Along with the added advantage of confidence that no one need know you are having brace treatment, you can get on with your life pretty much as normal. Class 1 Orthodontics is one of a very few practices in Australia, who provides Incognito lingual braces and these custom-made braces are on offer to our clients who want the ultimate in results and discretion!

Commonly asked questions

How will Incognito braces affect my daily life?

  • Speech: If you have lingual braces, it will take you a little while to learn to speak properly with the braces. The more you practice, the quicker your speech will return!
  • Playing musical instruments: If you play a musical instrument with a mouthpiece, it will take you one to two weeks before you become as skillful as before.
  • Brushing with braces: With braces on, your teeth are more difficult to clean. However, effective regular brushing of your teeth properly after every snack and meal will reduce the risk of decay and gum disease. Please see "aftercare" section for further information on how to brush effectively.
  • Eating and diet restrictions: Eating hard food or biting on large pieces of food may break the brackets or bands and damage the wires. We advise that you avoid eating the kind of foods on our "No Eats List". Basically avoid anything that may potentially damage the brace. Do cut hard fruits into small and thin pieces before eating them. Avoid food and drinks with high sugar content such as sweets and soft drinks.

How long does the therapy with lingual orthodontics take, and what is the standard of the results?

No longer than therapy with conventional braces, and the results are just as good.

Does lingual orthodontics offer medical advantages in addition to aesthetic ones?

Yes. As the inner side of the teeth is more robust and less susceptible to decalcification and caries, with lingual orthodontics there is less likelihood of permanent damage to the teeth than with labial orthodontics where the braces are worn on the outer side of the teeth. If white spots, traces or decalcification appears on the outer side of the teeth even before therapy has started, lingual orthodontics is definitely the method of choice.

Is the lingual technique also suitable for children?

Yes, but not until most of the permanent teeth have erupted.

How does the new Incognito system differ from traditional lingual braces?

Incognito is the first totally individual bracket system for lingual orthodontics and not only offers a new variety of treatment possibilities to the orthodontist but also the highest patient comfort that is technically possible - that reduces tongue irritations and speech problems and shortens the time necessary to get used to your braces.
