Invisalign

Class 1 Orthodontics, in association with Align Technology, offers you a revolutionary new way to straighten your teeth - without braces. Only an orthodontist with Invisalign® accreditation can offer this innovative technology.

You may have heard about the new "invisible brace" and wondered what it is all about. If you have teeth that are crowded, too far apart or have shifted since wearing conventional braces, Invisalign® may give you a new reason to smile!

Consisting of a series of see-through removable plastic trays (aligners) that are custom-made especially for you. They are designed to move your teeth step by step without any brackets or wires. They appeal to many of our adult clients, especially those who wore traditional braces as children and then need more treatment later in life. The Invisalign® aligner is also removable, so you can eat and drink what you like. Because it is nearly invisible, almost no one can tell you are wearing Invisalign®, so you can smile more during your treatment. Studies have shown that this can be better for your dental hygiene during treatment. With no metal or sharp edges, Invisalign® is comfortable to wear and does not cause allergies. They are almost invisible and good for clients whose teeth are not severely crooked.

Advantages of Invisalign braces

  • Less visible than metal or clear fixed braces
  • Can be less irritating and sore to lips and cheeks than metal braces
  • Removed for meals and drinks, so you can eat and drink normally
  • Removed for cleaning, so easier to clean your teeth and gums
  • No risk of nickel allergic reaction

Commonly asked questions

How will Invisalign® affect my daily life?

  • Speech: Our clients find that their speech is normally not affected much at all. It may just take you a few days to adapt.
  • Brushing with braces: Invisalign®is removed for brushing and flossing your teeth. You can clean the Invisalign® aligner with your toothbrush and paste.
  • Eating and diet restrictions: Invisalign® is removed for eating and drinking. However, you must clean your teeth after meals and drinks, before wearing the Invisalign® aligner again.

How does it work?

Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign® uses your Orthodontist's instructions to create a series of custom made removable mouth trays (aligners). These aligners apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth, causing them to move. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.

How long will Invisalign® take?

Invisalign® only works while you wear the aligners. We recommend they are worn full time day and night (min 22 - 24 hours). Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks, (before moving onto the next in the series), moving your teeth millimetre by millimetre, week by week, until you reach your desired result.

Treatment length will vary depending on your case, but the average Invisalign® treatment is nine to eighteen months.

During treatment you should visit us regularly at Class 1 Orthodontics, until it is determined that your treatment is complete.

Once active treatment is complete, there may be some fine tuning to create that perfect smile.
