Invisalign is the revolutionary teeth-straightening method which has transformed the orthodontic industry, and at Class 1 Orthodontics, we’re proud to call ourselves Invisalign specialists. Invisalign do too, awarding us Diamond Elite Invisalign provider status, in recognition of the more than 200 patients we have treated with this appliance.
What is Invisalign?
So, what’s all the fuss about then? Invisalign is unique in that it straightens teeth without requiring a patient to wear braces. Yes, you read right – no braces!
Instead, Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable plastic aligners that look like thin sports mouthguards, to move your teeth into position. They’re custom-made to fit your teeth perfectly. And because they’re made from clear plastic, no-one can tell you’re wearing them.
What’s more, they won’t interfere with your lifestyle because you can take the aligners out to eat, brush and floss!
How do Invisalign aligners work?
We have seen the results this treatment can achieve and believe us, they’re pretty spectacular. How do they come about?
The aligners are custom-made for your teeth using 3D scanning technology. Every two weeks you need to change your aligners as each set is slightly different. The slightly different shape of each aligner is what helps guide your teeth towards their final straight position.
Although you’ll need to change your aligners every two weeks, you won’t need to see us for an appointment that often. Instead, we’ll get you to come in once every six to eight weeks and at that appointment we’ll give you enough sets to last you until you come in again.
That’s one of the benefits of Invisalign, less time in the orthodontist’s chair!
At Class 1 Orthodontics, we use four different types of Invisalign:
Invisalign is also a popular treatment option with our teenage patients here at Class 1 Orthodontics, and for good reason. There’s enough to be self-conscious about as a teenager without needing to put up with a mouth full of metal. That’s why our team prefers to use Invisalign aligners as a method to straighten our younger patients’ teeth whenever possible.
We can also make having orthodontic treatment easy for our teens by including a blue dot wear indicator on your aligners. These help you keep track of how many hours a day you are wearing them, which for optimal results should be 20-22 hours per day!
Straight teeth, no braces – who would have thought such a thing existed? Not only does Invisalign exist, it also has a lot of benefits. Here are a few of the best:
The aligners are practically invisible: Without brackets or archwires, and using only clear plastic aligners, most people won't even notice you're having Invisalign treatment.
It’s a more hygienic treatment option: If you opt for Invisalign treatment you can remove your aligners to brush and floss as normal, making it easier to maintain good oral hygiene.
The aligners are removable: If you have a special event coming up and you’re having Invisalign treatment, there’s no cause for worry. On the night, simply take your aligners out. It’s fine to remove them for a couple of hours a day.
Invisalign is suitable for most cases: Many people believe Invisalign isn't a suitable orthodontic treatment option for them but Invisalign has come a long way in the last five years and our team of orthodontic specialists can treat the majority of orthodontic cases with this virtually invisible treatment method.
